“Rodney served in the Seven Years’ War and, in April 1782, won a famous victory over Count de Grasse’s French fleet at the islets called the Saintes, near Dominica. Known as the Battle of the Saints, Rodney’s resounding victory meant that the West Indies remained under British control.” from https://digital.nls.uk/broadsides/view/?id=15129
Although it sounds like a hornpipe there is a set dance that goes with the tune, so it’s referred to as a set-dance rather than a generic hornpipe. You can normally tell if it’s a set dance because of the uneven parts – e.g. the A being shorter than the B, or unusual timings.
